Decentralized Lean Business Model Canvas for Blockchain-Based Enterprises

Abstract

Ageneric decentralized lean business model canvas was developed using theprinciples of business process management and lean six sigma forblockchain-based systems presented in this study. Based on the literaturereview, it was found that business model canvas and lean canvas are some of themost widely used management tools. Business Model Canvas can be used forselling a specific product and lean canvas can be used for solving a specific problem.Based on Business Model Canvas, a Decentralized Business Model canvas fordecentralized space was developed in which the key parameters such as Problemdefinition, Key resources, Key activities, and learning were missing. As theLearn Parameter is missing, there is no mechanism for rectification oferror/problems and it does not take into account the principles of Business Process Management and Lean Six Sigma. Asmany companies who have already implemented the principles of Business ProcessManagement and Lean Six Sigma are now moving to establish blockchain in theirbusiness. Also, several startups use blockchain ideals in their business model.This motivated us to develop a novel decentralized lean business model canvastemplate. This can be made suitable for any blockchain-based use cases to makestrategic management plans. It uses13 key parameters and overcomes the limitations posed by other canvases.Validation of the decentralized lean business model canvas was done byconsidering a use case scenario for scholarly communication and scientificpublishing. The proposed system competes on time, cost, quality, security, andtrust.
